Inspiration and moodboard: Glam dressing room

I am a dreamer. Especially when it comes to homes. We have yet to achieve a dream home but we are on the path to it. We are planning on extending and renovating our home hopefully in a couple of years; it really can’t come quick enough for me! I’m so excited to one day have a dream open-plan kitchen, a dream bathroom, a dream snug and music room

One thing I’ve never had but would really like when we have our dream bedroom is a dressing area. Living in a chaotic family of boys, I love the idea of having a feminine space that is just mine, that makes me feel good to start the day in. Hey maybe I’ll have a whole room to myself one day: No Boys Allowed. Just kidding. Or maybe I’m not. 😉

Many moons ago, I pinned this image onto my Dressing Rooms board on Pinterest –

What. A. Dressing. Table. With a Calcatta gold marble top, leather upholstery and those amazing legs, it’s the sort of furniture that elevates the whole space around it and that makes you feel great when you use it or even look at it; something that would become a family heirloom… a real investment piece.

I know that many of us don’t have the cash to splash on expensive items all the time, I certainly don’t, but I really believe that mixing in a few high end products with more budget-friendly items can make a space feel really special; they really are worth saving up for. As an example, in a kitchen remodel, save money on cabinets by purchasing them from a supply-only company but don’t skimp on the key appliances and worktops if you want a kitchen that looks amazing and performs beautifully (this is my plan when we renovate).

If I manage to carve out a dressing space for myself one day, this is a space I would want to feel special and even a little indulgent. Below are a couple of my all-time favourite inspirational dressing rooms that always get me daydreaming and forgetting about the real life chaos of mornings with young children…

All the heart eyes for this incredible space! 😍  I would be so happy to get ready here every morning!

Wouldn’t this space just make you feel like a million dollars?? I love the blush pink tufted chair, the tufted ottoman and the beautiful etageres displaying beautiful accessories.

Channeling inspiration from these gorgeous dressing rooms, and taking the incredible dressing table from The Sofa & Chair Co as a starting point, I thought I’d create a moodboard for a dreamy dressing room that is unashamedly feminine and chic. Because it’s fun to dream, right? Keep your dreams big and your worries small. 😊

I love putting together moodboards as I never quite know how it’ll turn out while I’m adding and editing the plan, then suddenly I feel happy with it and I know where I’m going with it. This is the beauty of the design process. So it turns out I have quite a penchant for blush pink. And gold of course, but that’s no secret. Of course, I had to have some tufted furniture in this fantasy room. And is that the most stunning bookcase you’ve ever seen? It is for me! Too beautiful for dusty old novels I think, but perfect for a glamorous room. In fact, I’ll take two of them please, the second for my living room. We all fantasise about a sweeping curvy sofa, don’t we? It’s so Hollywood glamour! Ok I may be getting carried away about just how much space (and budget, ha!) I may be able to have, but I’m having fun here.

Tell me, are you also a dreamer? Have you ever designed a dream room or a real room around something special that you own or want to own?

This post is in association with The Sofa & Chair Company. All opinions and daydreams are my own.

Funnily enough, whilst we were away I dreamt that when we came back our kitchen extension had been done and I really didn’t want to wake up from that dream! Love your mood boards, I agree it’s always a good idea to mix a high end piece with some more affordable ones, if you can save for something that you really love it’s worth every penny X #HomeEtc

You nailed it, Lins. A special something really is worth every penny, and makes all the difference in how a space looks and feels. Good luck with your kitchen extension! Did your dream give you any new ideas for it? 🙂 xx

Oh my god this whole post is killing me!! I love it all. That first image is SO gorgeous. I really wanted to re-do my dressing room and I’m hoping with all my might that when we move I’ll get the chance to do another. I love having the space but I’d design it totally differently today. Fingers crossed we both have the space and budget for something so gorgeous 😉 xxx

Just came across this and I love how your inspiration is subtle yet very glamorous. I love rose gold or blush pinks with gold accents to create a timeless interior fit for a glam goddess!
