For those who may not have the space for, or indeed want, a big traditional fir, or for those who may want a secondary tree in another room (why just deck the halls when you can deck all the rooms?), here is a roundup of my favourite ideas for beautiful alternative Christmas trees.
I adore this gorgeous wall tree from Cox & Cox made with frosted branches and string, shown so beautifully styled here!Black picture ledges (cut to size) on a black wall make a very chic tree! Image: French By DesignThis printable 6′ tree from The Caravan Shoppe is a cheap and quick way to put up a wall tree. You can use the included printable ornaments or simply string up some mini baubles.Another paper tree, this one uses lots of triangle cutouts to form a tree shape. Use any colour combination that takes your fancy! Image: The NestIf you have a chalkboard wall in your home, surely you’ve got to draw a Christmas tree on it! Image: Hunted InteriorYou don’t have to have a chalkboard wall to create a chalkboard tree. On a sheet of plywood, paint on a triangle with chalkboard paint, draw a simple design like this one and Bob’s your uncle – you have a chalkboard tree. Image: Jaymee SrpA little painted shelf with a triangle shape painted above it in the same colour – so simple yet lovely, especially in a kid’s room or play room. You can even keep the tree shelf as a feature for the rest of the year to display bird or animal toys. Image: The JungalowWashi tape tree: this is a fantastic option for a kid’s room or a playroom. Create a tree shape then let the kids decorate their tree with a couple of different washi tapes. It’ll keep them entertained for ages ;-). Image: MPMKA simple tree painted on a stretched canvas: you could even create this before breakfast. Image: Sania PellIf you’re even halfway confident with a paintbrush, you could try creating something a little more elaborate. This painting on a fabric hung with a dowel and string makes for lovely Christmassy art during the season and can be easily stored away when needed. Image: French by DesignA framed ornament tree: this stunning one is very elaborate but a simpler version would also be lovely. Image: How to DecorateBranches in a vase: beautiful yet super easy for a mantle or table centrepiece. Image: Att PyntaI love this! It requires more space than the other ideas but the effect is fabulous. If you have a potted deciduous tree in the garden, you can bring it inside at Christmas time and decorate its bare branches. Alternatively, go with a grander version of the previous example and use several large, thick branches in a pot to create a similar effect. There ya go folks, hope you found these ideas inspiring! Are you going non-traditional this year?
