My goal is to build a life that I don’t need a holiday from, and having a home that makes me and my family happy is a big part of this aim. Lately I’ve been clearing out all the things accumulated over the years that don’t bring me joy to use, and any new additions to the house have to be well designed, beautiful and made to last.
“Buy less, choose well, make it last.” – Dame Vivienne Westwood
For this post, I am thrilled to be collaborating with Denby and Burleigh whose products are so well designed and timeless in their beauty that they epitomise this ethos for me. I have long been their fan, keenly following their news and updates, so it is an absolute pleasure for me to be able to share with you their new range of products.
As soon as I saw Denby’s new Studio Blue range, I felt like it had been made for me! This is what they say about it:
“Denby Studio Blue is inspired by the trend for a natural aesthetic in the home using honest materials and ceramic crafting techniques. This quality stoneware collection, which is made in Derbyshire England, features a range of bowls, plates and platters designed with laid-back dining and entertaining in mind. The range combines four tonal glazes inspired by the colours and textures found in stone and minerals, combined to create a tactile collection which captures the essence of Denby’s hand-crafting skills and textural glazes perfected over 200 years.”
Every kitchen shelf would look prettier with the beautiful and calming blue tones of this stunning range! Shown here (from L-R, starting at the top) are the Pasta Bowl Set, Medium Coupe Plate Set, Ridged Mug Set, Coupe Dinner Plate Set, Cereal Bowl Set and Cobalt Medium Ridged Bowl.
“The colours and textures of pebbles and natural stones such as flint, shale and chalk have been the inspiration behind Studio Blue. We have created glazes that evoke the different surfaces found in these minerals, combining them to create a harmonious range.” – Nicola Wilson, Senior Designer at Denby
As a family, we always try to sit together for our breakfasts and dinners, and with Studio Blue, our mealtimes have become so much more joyful! (Notwithstanding threenager moodiness, haha!) I really love the mix and match concept which brings a lovely laid back style to an everyday family meal while also looking gorgeous for entertaining. The pieces feel wonderfully sturdy and very comforting to use, while also being very practical as Denby’s tableware is safe for use in the oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher.
The carefully considered shapes and sizes also make the tableware very versatile. For example, we have been using the ridged bowl for vegetables, breads, salads and other sharing food, while the generous pasta bowls are fantastic for so many different types of meals that are better eaten out of a bowl like chilli, stir fries, salads, anything with rice… the list goes on and on. They really are so useful I’m going to purchase another set of them as well as the rice bowl set.
Undeniably beautiful, strong, durable and practical – everything you could possibly want your tableware to be!
Weekend breakfasts are a bit of an event in our home, and with the gorgeous Studio Blue ridged mugs keeping the tea/coffee warm for ages, we can be even more leisurely. 😋
As a big tea drinker, I get pretty excited about beautiful mugs that brew a good tea, so I was very happy to also have the opportunity to test out mugs from Burleigh Pottery. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of their iconic Calico design, they have launched special edition mugs with this design in beautiful colours, and just by looking at them you can tell they are pretty special.
“It takes 25 pairs of hands to create a single piece of Burleigh pottery, and each pot is meticulously hand-finished. Creating something good, something that lasts, something that is above fashion and trends, something timeless, can’t be hurried.”
Not only are these the prettiest mugs I’ve ever seen, they brew a great cup of tea too! I adore them and feel I need to complete the set with the other colours too. 😍 You can check out the range here. Let me know which one is your favourite colour!
Tea and cake anyone? 🙂
